~ About The Jewish Burial Fund ~

WHO WE ARE

The Jewish Burial Fund is a not-for-profit charity aimed at assisting and providing traditional Jewish burials for individuals employed in the arts, who’re lacking the means and resources of doing so.

The charity is also designed to help as a tool to promote traditional Jewish burial over cremation (which is antithetical to Judaism). We adhere to in strict accordance to Jewish law and customs and have an advisory board comprised of world renowned Rabbis & Torah scholars along with a mix of established entertainment professionals. Currently JBF is in the process of seeking 501-c3 status.

OUR MISSION

The Jewish Burial Fund for the Performing Arts’ mission is to provide comfort, support, and aide to a diverse mix of artistic individuals without discrimination, by offering to serve as an advocate during their time of need. We also strive to ensure that respect and dignity of those we help is adamantly preserved, by strictly maintaining and protecting their needs of privacy.

WHO WE SERVE

We serve ANYONE that is or was employed professionally in the performing arts, regardless of their Family Status, Age, Income, Gender, Ethnicity, Sexual Orientation, or Level of Observance, that needs financial assistance and or emotional support relating to end of life decisions.

WHY THERE IS A NEED FOR A JEWISH BURIAL FUND
FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

Many performers unfortunately lack the family structure and / or resources when it comes to addressing their end of life needs as opposed to many chose to go into more tradition fields of employment. Those who’ve dedicated their lives to the arts and performing, often times never marry or have kids children for a variety of reasons whether it’s due to having to working nights and weekends, always on the road, instability of income, or deep rooted insecurities to name a few.

In a field mainly comprised of independent contractors going from job to job and paycheck to paycheck, performers will oftentimes lack pensions, 401k’s, stocks, and other forms of savings that those employed in other professions might possess. Without these essential funds paired with an absence of family, friends and / or distant relatives many artists/performers are left with having to raise funds to provide for funeral arrangements. That’s where the Jewish Burial Fund steps in.
